L.E.A.D. (Gap-Year Program)
September 2026 – May 2027
Done high school and looking to deepen your faith? LEAD, which stands for Leadership Experience and Discipleship, launches young people into faith, friendship and leadership. Each year, three to five young adults aged 18-23 are welcomed into the Circle Square Ranch community at Big Clear Lake, 1.5 hours from Canada’s capital city, Ottawa.
At one point in the gospels, Jesus is asked a question about which commandment is most important. His answer is that the commands to love God and to love your neighbour are the most important. In LEAD, we seek to live that out. You will grow in your love for God as you study His word, pray, learn from mentors, and deepen your understanding of how much God loves you.
You will have many opportunities to love others, through life together with the other LEAD participants, serving the retreat groups who come to the Ranch, and ministering to highschool students who are connected to the Ranch community. Get ready for a year of much growth and great joy.

The Elements
Over the course of LEAD, participants will read and discuss over half of the books of both the Old and New Testaments. There will be weekly Bible reading time and Bible reading discussions. In addition, they will participate in an in-depth inductive study of the books of Mark and Ephesians.
LEAD participants read half a dozen books over the course of the two terms including a mix of spiritual formation and theological texts.
There is regular discipleship of LEAD participants by Ranch staff. Formal one-on-one appointments occur through the week. Informal conversations happen all the time. The Ranch community is hope-filled and kind. The LEAD year is filled with life-changing moments both alone with God and in connection with the vibrant, Spirit-led Ranch family.
A unique element of LEAD is the practical experience students take away. They take the skills they learn in the classroom and put them to the test leading others in the barn, the kitchen, in the office and across all elements of camp and ministry life. Our LEAD participants often step into leadership roles at the Ranch upon graduation.
The Facts…
The cost for the 8-month program is $3200, or $1600 per semester, which covers room and board, program expenses and outings. LEAD participants are encouraged to fundraise their fees. Scholarships are available, contact [email protected] for more information.
Participants will stay on site at Circle Square Ranch. There will be a common meeting area used for teaching. There may be two people per room for sleeping accommodations.
